3 Biggest Mistakes in Interviews

I have been on thousands of candidate debriefs, and you'd be surprised to learn that there are usually only three reasons that lead to us as candidates being kicked!

Lack of Preparation - One of the most significant mistakes candidates make is not preparing sufficiently for the interview. This includes not researching the company, its culture, and the specific role. When candidates show up without a clear understanding of the organization or fail to anticipate common interview questions, they risk coming across as disinterested or unqualified.

Poor Communication Skills - This may seem so basic or surprising but interviews are nerve-wracking experiences and we don't always do well. It's very common for candidates to struggle to articulate thoughts clearly or using filler words, not answering the right question, or the most common reason..,

Rambling - I would say this is the most common issue we make. When nervous or unprepared, candidates may provide overly lengthy answers that stray off-topic, making it difficult for interviewers to follow their thoughts. This can detract from the impact of their points and leave a negative impression.

Being aware of, and actibely avoiding these common mistakes can significantly enhance a candidate’s chances of success in an interview. By preparing thoroughly, paying attention to body language and communication, and staying concise in their answers, job seekers can present themselves as confident, informed, and engaged candidates, ultimately increasing their likelihood of landing the job.
